Energy unit

The energy unit is the central building block of the energy roof: measuring about 1 sq. m and with a power capacity of approx. 130 Wp. In terms of design and technology, the energy unit is about as different from a solar module as a ground-mounted solar unit is from entire energy systems.

What are the advantages of the SYSTAIC energy unit?

On the front: uninterrupted glass surfaces, no frames, retainer clips or other dirt collectors; a graduated, dark color design featuring a small grid of silver electrical bands; the glass edges secured with a polyurethane lamination – technology from the SYSTAIC Automotive area.

On the rear: nothing but a robust frame – no loose cables or readout boxes. The frame, however, packs a punch – diodes, cabling, covered fastenings and a combined power connection system (click & connect).

SYSTAIC Energy Roof

The concealed support frame in turn forms the basis for integrated construction solutions: no roofs without windows or dormer windows, or a loggia. We have the right solutions to meet all these requirements, a perfect match for the grid of the energy unit. In other words, the construction dimensions adjust to the frame width and can therefore be integrated into the grid of the roof. Window glazing along the top is also continuous, thereby accommodating large sections of glass. Roof parts can even be folded away, thus creating a temporary roof terrace. The design architect has all the freedom to adjust our technology to your individual needs and requirements.



The SYSTAIC Energy Roof can be mounted on top of an existing roof, or new caulking can be applied to it. The SYSTAIC Energy Roof can adapt to different types of roof caulking – we prefer metal covering because of its clear advantages with regard to mounting, edge design (rain pipe, verge, eaves) and the design of the remaining areas. In special cases, the remaining areas can also be harmonized in line with the design of the energy units, so please arrange things with us individually.

A SYSTAIC energy roof generates electricity. But in addition it offers many more technological advantages: first of all, it saves heat. With its controlled ventilation of the interspaces, the additional cladding makes for efficient heat insulation. And it also produces heat. Waste heat is a by-product of power generation; the SYSTAIC Energy Roof collects this waste heat and uses it to cool the energy units to keep the production capacity stable. Waste heat can be used inside the building to produce hot water and space heat via a heat pump process – separate thermal collectors can be installed on the roof, but it is not essential. Making use of waste heat is an interesting alternative that also fulfills the requirements of the new EEG heat (EEG = Renewable Energies Act).
